When else can I use that as a title?
Last Saturday Miles and I attended our community's Mother and Son event at a rollerskating rink. We had a blast! When we arrived at the civic center I couldn't help but notice that Miles was the oldest son there. I worried that he would feel embarrassed and want to bag the event all together. Nope.
We loaded on the buses and got on our way. Miles and I had a great time talking about summer plans or whatever came to mind. When we arrived at the roller rink and put our skates on, it occurred to me how times have changed. When I was a kid, everyone had their own roller skates. Learning how to skate was like a rite of passage. I remember spending day after day on my skates in the neighborhood. I particularly remember my neighbor's driveway that had a #10 can cemented into it that we avoided for fear of ending up on our face. (I know my siblings know what I'm talking about. What was the point of that can anyway?)
It was so funny watching scores of little boys...and a few moms...on rollerskates not knowing which way was up. I must admit it's not like riding a bike. My tailbone will attest to that. Okay, that brings up another point. What company would make a roller rink out of cement and have cinderblock half-walls around it? I don't care if it's cheaper than wood and funky carpeting! Take a look at Sarah's wrists and tell me this is a good idea. (I'm still waiting for the blog post on that Sarah.)
As we left, all the boys got bags filled with gadgets and treats. Miles called Matt on our drive back and told him we were at the emergency room because I had fallen. He had that story going for a while before he starting laughing. I couldn't stop laughing at him saying, "Dang it!" while his emotions ruined the believability of his story. The whole event was exactly what I'd hoped it would be. We had a great time. I loved being with Miles. He wants to go again next year. You're on Miles!

Okay, I finally blogged about it--but no bruised wrist pics. My camera was lost/stolen before I uploaded the pics. Bummer!
